Music Career

“The high priestess of Ohangla” was very good in her music craft. She displayed her undeniable passion for music even after falling ill. It was reported that the late Princess Jully cleared her path in music. Lady Maureen told SDE that after one of those performances she approached her mentor and asked for advice.

The benga artist took her under her wings and would give her slots to curtain raise in her shows. All this while she was yet to identify her own style until 2006 when she met a group of men performing traditional Luo songs at the Kisumu Social Hall known as  Nyamolo Traditional Dancers. Four months after joining the group, she moved on to form her own outfit, Nyar Nga’ato Dancers Troupe.

All through Lady Maureen's life. she has been very experimental with her music. In 2006 she released her debut CD “Wang’ni Wabiro (This Time We Are Coming). She did another popular song for Gor Mahia but the team never paid her even after numerous promises.
