Ikuforiji Abdulrahman Olaitan Biography and Career

Ikuforiji Abdulrahman Olaitan (aka Oxlade) was born on the 22nd April 1997 in Lagos State, Nigeria. He was raised by his grandma, having lost his mum at an early age. Like many other Nigerian singers, Oxlade started his musical journey in the church, and at a point, became the junior choir master. His maternal uncles where not in support of him making secular music, and it greatly affected his church activities.

Despite all the set backs, Oxlade stood still in the pursuit of his passion. Despite the disapproval of his father, he continued pursuing music until he gained admission to study History and International Relations at the Lagos State University (LASU). After two years of studying, he dropped out of LASU, a move that didn't  sit well with his father, who in turn stopped catering for his needs.

Oxlade recorded a break in the industry when a Blaqbonez heard his previous single ‘Sour’ and arranged to work with him. They both released a hit track titled 'Mamiwota' after hitting the studios. The song has so far garnered more than 250,000 views on YouTube. He further featured YBNL singer, Fireboy DML in a single, 'Sing'.

On March 2020, Oxlade dropped a six-track EP that was produced mainly by Spax the Producer. One of the tracks in the EP, 'Tables Turn', features British Nigerian artist Moelogo. Other great songs on the EP include 'Hold On', 'Weakness', 'O2', 'Kokose' and 'Away' which has so far garnered more than 2 million views on YouTube.

The EP was followed by the release of an album titled 'Oxygen'.
