Billionaire Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji was born on the 3rd of May, 1979. She was born in Mbaise, Imo State, Nigeria to an engineer dad and a nursery school teacher mum.
She grew up in Lagos State and attended Methodist Girls College, Yaba, before getting admission into the University of Lagos State, department of Creative Arts.

While she was still in the University of Lagos, she started attending Nollywood auditions and eventually became an actress.
Prior to that, she already started her acting career as a child actress in the then popular television soap opera Ripples, when she was only 8.
Genevieve's first appearance in a Nigerian movie was in 1998, when she was 19 and she featured in 'Most Wanted'. After that, she featured in other movies including 'Last Party', 'Ijele' and 'Mark of the Beast'. Since then she has starred in over 80 Nollywood movies.

In the year 2004, Genevieve signed a recording contract with a Ghanaian record label, EKB Records and she released her debut album, 'One Logologo Line'. It is a mix of Hip-Hop, R&B and Urban music.
2005, she won the Africa Movie Academy Award (AMAA) for the Best Actress in a Leading Role, becoming the first actress to win the award.
As of 2019, Genevieve was one of the best paid Nollywood actresses. She became the first actress to be awarded Best Actress at the 2001 City Peoples Awards, the award ceremony that previously had only recognized politicians and business conglomerates due to her contributions to the Nigeria movie industry. 
In 2009, she was referred to as the Julia Roberts of Africa by Oprah Winfrey.

In November 2015, Genevieve produced her first movie, 'Road to Yesterday', and it won Best Movie Overall-West Africa at the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.
In January 2018, it was reported that Genevieve would be replacing Funke Akindele as a member of the Dora Milaje in Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War. However, this was later debunked as an internet prank and the actress didn't appear in the movie.
On the 7th of September, her movie, 'Lionheart' was acquired by Netflix for ₦1,385,100,000 ($3.8million) and she became the first Nollywood billionaire.
The movie featured top sensations like Pete Edochie, Peter Okoye, Phyno, Onyeka Onwenu and so on.

Aside acting, she is also a model and has featured in several commercials including Omo detergent and Pronto beverage.
In 2004, she became the 'Face of Lux' in Nigeria and it earned her a lot of money.
