Dubai has made a name as one of the most popular, developed cities in the world.
The official host of World Cup 2020 and the most populous city in the United Arab Emirates thanks to the influx of immigrants and tourists alike. It is also known as the city of luxury. 
Aside having over 70 shopping centres, Dubai is the shopping capital of the Middle East and has the world’s largest shopping centre the Dubai Mall.

With the lifestyle enjoyed in there, one will assume that its citizens/residents will be so proud and pompous, but then who won’t be proud of such a city. In Dubai there is a certain standard that must be attained; everything has to be posh and sophisticated. Their infrastructures, systems and habits all point to the fact that these people are classy and organized. 
Dubai make use of the biggest, the highest, the brightest, and the most expensive things life can offer. 
But in all that glitz and glamour, there still lies some weird out place items which have been outlined below.

1. The crime rate in Dubai is as low as 0%. Yeah, you read that right, 0%!! This is the reason why the city is considered one of the safest cities on earth. Their laws are very strict and strident and also, its residents are orderly, law-abiding and full of good morals.


2. 85% of Dubai's population are foreigners. Most of who come from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. They migrate to Dubai in search of a well-paying job. It is has the second highest populations of immigrants in the world. 

3. The world’s highest tennis court is located in Dubai. It is on the top of the Burj Al Arab. This tennis court sometimes serves as a helipad. Think about playing tennis 2000 metres above sea level!


4. Foreign women visiting Dubai who get raped and report the incident are most likely to be jailed instead of the rapist. Marte Deborah Dalelv from Norway who brought rape charges against her colleague was sentenced to sixteen months in prison. Reasons are not known.

5. In Dubai, the police department own fleets of Lamborghini, Ferrari and Bentley and latest Mercedes-Benz model. They use these fast sophisticated cars at work in order to catch over-speeding vehicles that can outrun slow cars.

6. There are far more men than women. Of Dubai’s 2.5 million-strong population, 1.7 million are male – that’s almost 70 per cent. Females account for just over 30 per cent of Dubai’s population, according to official census statistics. The higher proportion of men is attributed to the fact that most of the city’s expats are males, who have left their families behind in their home countries.

7. In Dubai, wild animals are used as pets, and the owners drive alongside with their pets sitting on the passenger seat. Most of these pets are Tigers, Leopards, Wolves and Panthers. Some also go for assorted species of tame animals.

8. Apparently, Burj Khalifa is so tall that some of its residents living on the 150th floor and higher can see the sun for longer than those living on lower floors. Consequently, they could not break their fast at the same time and have to wait longer.

9. They don't pay taxes in Dubai. No VAT, no additional costs, completely tax free.

10. The famous Palms Jumeirah, the palm tree shaped island is the largest human-made islands in the world and is visible from space. It was made with a lot of imported sand. The estimated sand used can bury a small town to a depth of 100metres.
