Joke Silva was born on the 29th of September, 1961 into an Amaro family of four children. Her father was a lawyer while her mother, Adebimbola Silva (late) was a doctor.
Joke Silva had her early primary at Lagos State, and secondary education at the Holy Child College, still in Lagos.
After completing her secondary education, Joke relocated to England, studying drama at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London.
Following the completion of her A-levels, she returned back to Nigeria and joined the University of Lagos (UniLag) Culture Centre, which later became the department of creative arts.

Entertainment Career

Joke's parents where initially against her idea of going to the theatre, but soon began to support her. Joke Silva started acting in the 1990s and one of her earliest roles was in the 1990 English film, 'Mind Bending'.
In 1993 she appeared in 'Owulorojo', followed by the 1995 film, 'Violated'. In 1998 she starred opposite Colin Firth and Nia Long in the British-Canadian film 'The Secret Laughter of Women', where she played Nene.
Silva is also a movie producer and one of her works include 'The Kingmaker', which she co-produced with Olu Jacobs in 2002.

Joke Silva got married to Nollywood actor Olu Jacobs in 1989 and they have three children, Olusoji Jacobs, Olugbenga Jacobs, Dayo Jacobs.
