Born on the 11th of July, 1942, Olu Jacobs spent his early childhood in Kano State, Nigeria. He attended the Holy Trinity School and was a very active member of the drama and debating societies.He got inspired to try acting after attending one of the Hubert Ogunde's annual concert parties at the Colonial Hotel in Kano, and he later secured a VISA and then travelled to go and study acting in England.
He trained at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London and then started starring in various British TV shows and series in the 70s such as Till Death Us Do Part, The Goodies, Barlow at Large, Angels, The Venturers, 1990, The Professionals and The Tomorrow People.
He also played the role of President Mageeba in Michael Codron's presentation of Tom Stoppard's play Night and Day in the year 1978.
Olu Jacobs is married to fellow Nollywood actress, Joke Silva and they have children.
