His mother, Hajia Fatima Karderam Digema hails from Bama village of Borno State. She was a caterer and a school teacher.
Ali Nuhu grew up in Maiduguri town, Borno, Nigeria. He had his early primary education in Riga special primary school. After obtaining his First School Leaving Certificate, he enrolled at the Government Secondary Commercial School in Kano, where he got his Junior Secondary School Certificate.
Nuhu further attended the Science Secondary School Dawakin Tofa, from where he obtained his Senior Secondary School Leaving Certificate.
On completing his secondary education, Ali Nuhu gained admission into The University of Jos, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Geography.
He also studied film production and cinematic arts at the University of Southern California.

Ali Nuhu joined the Hausa movie industry in 1999. He, however, first auditioned for a movie while in the higher institution.
