Adamu Adamu was born on the 25th of May, 1956 in Katagum, a town in Bauchi State, Nigeria.
25 May 1956. After completing his primary and secondary education, Adamu proceeded to the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
He further travelled to the United States where he obtained a master’s degree in Journalism from Columbia University’s School of Journalism.

Career

On graduation from the higher institution, Adamu got a job as an accountant job at Bauchi State.
He worked briefly as an accountant before venturing into journalism where he rose through ranks to become Deputy Editor of now-defunct New Nigerian newspaper.
His first newspaper editor job was in 1984 when he started working as a columnist for Daily Trust. During those years, he became known as an active commentator on the events that transpired in Nigeria.
He also worked as the Personal Assistant (PA) to late Chief Soloman Lar, the first national chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

Adamu Adamu has for over the years, been an ardent follower of President Muhammadu Buhari. In fact, he was among the men that accompanied Mr. President to Bauchi State in 2007 to promote the candidacy of Isa Yuguda, a representative of the ANPP.

Prior to his appointment as Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu had worked as the Secretary of Muhammadu Buhari’s Transition Committee. He was appointed Minister of Education on the 11th of November, 2015 during the president's first major appointments and reappointed on 21st August 2019.
