Mamman Daura was born on the 9th of November, 1939 in Daura, Northern Region, British Nigeria. His father, Alhaji Dauda Daura who held the traditional title of Durbin Daura of the Daura Emirate was Muhammadu Buhari's elder brother. Hence the closeness between him and the president.
Daura began his early education at Katsina Middle School. After obtaining his First School Leaving Certificate, he enrolled at the prestigious Provincial Secondary School, Okene for his secondary education after which he started working with the Daura Native Authority.
In 1962, he travelled to Ireland where he gained admission to study Economics and Public Administration at Trinity College (officially the College of the Holy and Undivided Trinity of Queen Elizabeth), Dublin.

Career

Mamman Daura's first job was in 1956 when he joined the Daura Native Authority where he worked for a couple of years before joining the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation.
On his return from Ireland in 1968, he started working in the office of General Abba Kyari, the military governor of North-Central State.
A year later, he joined the New Nigerian, where he replaced Adamu Ciroma as the paper's new editor. In 1974, he was made the managing director of the company but had to leave when General Murtala Mohammed's administration opted to take over the ownership of the paper.
He has also served in several other government boards and agencies, including the News Agency of Nigeria and the Nigerian Television Authority where he served as the Chairman. He also headed the Africa International Bank (a subsidiary of Bank of Credit and Commerce International).
He was really influential in Buhari's first administration between 1984 and 1985 and in this his present administration.

Personal Life

Not much is known about Mamman Daura's personal life as he keeps them away from the public. According to Legit.NG, he is happily married to  Ummu Kulthum and the marriage is blessed with 6 children (five daughters and one son) and 14 grandchildren.
