Ayo Akinwale was a Nigerian actor, movie producer and educationist.He died on the 13th of September, 2020.
He was born in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria to Pa Akinwale and had his early education at the St. Lukes Demonstration School.
His secondary education was at the Methodist High School.
Prof. Ayo Akinwale attended the University of Ibadan and eventually became a lecturer at the Polytechnic Ibadan.
He was the Dean, Faculty of Arts and Culture of University of Ilorin.
Until Ayo Akinwale's death, he was also the chairman of Oyo State Council for Arts and Culture and has been a judge on several cultural festivals across Nigeria.
Ayo Akinwale began his acting career in the 1970s featuring in television and drama productions.
He was a winner of the Best Indigenous actor award at the 4th Africa Movie Academy Awards.

“With heavy heart and total submission to the will of the Almighty God, I announce the passing on to higher glory of Prof. Ayo Akinwale, of the Department of the Performing Arts, University of Ilorin. He died today, the 13th September, 2020 at the Unilorin Teaching Hospital.
“May the Almighty God comfort the family and all of us.”
