Chidera Eggerue was born on the 17th of December, 1994 in London. She grew up in Southeast London in Peckham, a neighbourhood that is mostly British Nigerian. Her family is Igbo.
She started her primary education at Goose Green Primary School after which she enrolled at the prestigious Kingsdale Foundation School for her secondary education.
Chidera further gained admission to study fashion design at college but was unable to complete the degree due to depression.

Career

Chidera Eggerue first began her internet career with her fashion and female empowerment blog 'The Slumflower'. Since then, her online following has grown exponentially and she has now written the self-help book 'What A Time To Be Alone'.

In 2017, she started the #SaggyBoobsMatter online campaign that gained prominence on Instagram and Twitter. The goal of the movement was to challenge the convention that women with large breasts must wear a bra if their breasts sag.

According to the social media star, she felt insecure while growing up because her breasts did not look like a model on the packaging of her first bra.

Speaking on Lorraine, Eggerue revealed "when I was 18 I thought I really wanted a boob job" because "we only ever see perky boobs" on social media.

She later decided to embrace her shape and posted a picture wearing a dress without a bra in September 2017, using the hashtag.

In January 2020 she presented a Channel 4 documentary Bring Back the Bush, examining why women shave their pubic hair.

Chidera Eggerue has published two books, 'What a Time to be Alone: The Slumflower's Guide to Why You Are Already Enough' and 'How To Get Over A Boy'.
'What a Time to be Alone: The Slumflower's Guide to Why You Are Already Enough' was published in July 2018 under Quadrille Publishing. A few days after the book was published, it became a Sunday Times bestseller. The book focuses on self-love and contains advice on how young women can be happy alone.

'How To Get Over A Boy' on its part gives advice on dating and relationships. Describing the book on Amazon, 'In How to Get Over a Boy, bestselling author Chidera Eggerue will show you, once and for all, how to reframe the stale goal of finding a man.'

In 2018, she was chosen for the BBC 100 Women list.
