David Abioye Biography and Career

David Abioye was born on the 11th of March, 1961 into a Baptist family, got saved at a tender age. He first met David Oyedepo in 1980 during a meeting, he was 19 then and was serving as President of the Fellowship of Christian Students (FCS), University of Ilorin, Kwara State. According to churchgistinfo.blogspot.com, Abioye was asked by Oyedepo (who was then Joint Campus Fellowship (JCF) President) to lead the prayers but he stoutly refused.

David Abioye joined the Living Faith Church in 1983, during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program. He worked as a lecturer at Open Cast Polytechnic, Auchi from 1985 till 1986, and wanted to start a technological firm to solidify his finances. Within these years, his relationship with Oyedepo had transcended from a brotherly friendship to a spiritual mentor.

After Oyedepo's departure to Lagos, he became the senior pastor of Garden of Faith, Kaduna, which was the former national headquarters of the church. In June 1993, he became a Bishop, alongside the late Bishop Harford Ilupotaife of Victory Christian Church. They were both the youngest pentecostal Bishops ever consecrated in the history of the Church in Nigeria, having been ordained at the age of 32. Abioye has witnessed Winners Chapel's growth from a small church in Ilorin to a mega church with branches in over 60 countries.

In 2004, Bishop Oyedepo transferred Abioye to Abuja as the senior pastor and it took only the grace upon his life for the crisis generated by that transfer to be quelled. The former Bishop of Abuja, Dayo Olutayo, who also doubles as the GO's in-law was transferred to Port Harcourt. After a short while of Bishop David Abioye introduction, Olutayo jetted down to Port Harcourt, took over from the man there, returned back to Abuja, ostensibly to prepare to relocate finally to the new territory, and he ended up relocating finally out of Winners Chapel to begin a new movement, the 'Good Tidings Bible Church'.

Bishop David Abioye supervised the establishment of numerous branches of Winners Chapel in Abuja. including Mararaba, Karu, Nyany, Kubwa, Lugbe, Jahi, Gwarimpa and numerous other megachurches before he moved to Goshen City.

Abioye has displayed unparalleled loyalty, faithfulness and service to Winners Chapel and Bishop David Oyedepo. It was on record that Goshen City was built within 18 months and crowds of worshipers have continued to overflow the place. Goshen City also has a primary school (Kingdom Heritage Model School), a secondary school (Faith Academy), a mini housing unit, a youth centre,  youth church, guest houses, printing press and the massive auditorium which holds two services every Sunday.
