Prophet David Owuor was born in 1966, to the family of Hezekiah and Margaret Ochieng in Goma village, Usenge in Bondo District. David is the second child in a family of six girls and three boys. Growing up in a Christain home, the young David grew up knowing about God through his mother.

His father, Hezekiah worked with East African Community Prison Service where he rose in ranks to a Sergeant Major while his mother was a housewife and a peasant farmer.

David Owuor began his primary education at Wambasa Primary School, Yimbo but had to transfer to  Jusa, Luzira and later, Kitalya where his father was transferred to as a civil servant. He further proceeded to Mbale Senior Secondary School and St. Peters College, Tororo for his ‘O’ level and  ‘A’ levels certificates.

He further joined Makerere University for a Bachelor of Science degree but later moved to the University of Nairobi, completing his first degree in 1988. After obtaining his B.Sc degree, David travelled to Israel for his Master's program at the Ben Gurion University of the Negev. He initially got two scholarships to Germany and Israel but chose Israel. Upon graduation, he returned to Kenya briefly and worked for the United Nations Environment Programme as a volunteer.

In 1994, he went back to Israel for a doctorate in biochemical genetics at Haifa University, where he specialised in DNA sequencing.

Upon the completion of his Doctorate from the University of Haifa, Owuor joined the Centre for Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at the University of Illinois, Chicago as a Post-Doctoral Fellow where he researched and taught in the College of Pharmacy, and specifically the Department of Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics. He was a specialist in a branch of Drug Metabolism known as Signal Transduction. He majored in Signal Transduction by cancer chemotherapeutic drugs.

Pastor Owuor started to show out his call in 1987 when Uganda was in political turmoil. He used to emphasize about peace and repentance to the people in Uganda for God is coming. Generally, his messages are centred on repentance and the need for man to prepare for the Second Coming of Christ.

He has been featured in the media worldwide for predicting disasters like earthquakes and floods which have come to pass. In June, October and November 2003, he predicated last December’s Asian Tsunami, America’s Hurricane Katrina and Pakistan’s earthquakes, all which came to pass.

About his personal life, Prophet David Owuor isn't married yet. The renowned prophet in defence to this stated that his calling had not availed him the opportunity to do so. Having a family, he said, will tie him down and he may not be able to follow the will of God. He, however, has a son with an Israeli whom he revealed that he didn't marry because she refused to move to the United States with her.
