Jumia Hands Over Operations Of Its Travel Section To Travelstart In New Deal
Top eCommerce platform, Jumia has has handed over the operations of its travel section to South African online travel agency, Travelstart.
The partnership, which is coming weeks after Jumia suspended operations in Cameroon and Tanzania.

In the new arrangement, Jumia will still promote the travel category on its platforms but Travelstart will be responsible for the operational side of the business, “revenue management, customer service, corporate sales and corporate sales.”

This partnership will ensure we remain hyper-focused on our growth and path to by profitability as we reinvest our resources in our key markets, services and technology to create the best customer experience in Africa and help Jumia thrive,” Jumia said in a statement on Monday.

According to Stephan Ekbergh, the CEO of Travelstart; 'the partnership will help more than 12,000 daily travellers that use its platform in Africa to unlock high quality online travel services'.

Jumia also stated that it'll cease to operate Hotels and Flights websites and apps.

In addition to this, the Rwandan unit of Jumia Technologies also announced it'd be suspending its operations in the country on January 9th, 2020 after six years of delivering food and drinks.
