Abike Dabiri-Erewa as born on the 10th of October, 1962 into the family of Alhaji and Alhaja Ashafa Erogbogbo of Ikorodu. Alhaji Ashafa Erogbogbo (her father) is one of the children of late Alh. Sule Erogbogbo of Adegorunsen Compound, Ajina square, Ita – Agbodo, Ikorodu. Her paternal grandmother, Alhaja Alimotu Erobogbo is from Bello Solebo family of Ita – Elewa Square, Ikorodu. She is married to Segun Erewa.
Dabiri-Erewa had her early nursery and primary education at Maryland Private School, Maryland, Ikeja. After obtaining her First School Leaving Certificate, she enrolled at St. Teresa’s College, Ibadan for her secondary education.
She further got admission to study English Language at the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU) Ile – Ife. She obtained a post-graduate diploma (PGD) in mass communication and also a master's degree in mass communication from the University of Lagos, Akoka
Dabiri-Erewa also has a certificate from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, United States.

Career

Before venturing into politics, Abike Dabiri-Erewa worked as a journalist with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) for fifteen years. During the period she worked at NTA, Dabiri-Erewa anchored the weekly NTA Newsline programme and taking a particular interest in poverty and social justice issues.
In 2003, she retired from her position at NTA to contest stand for election in the House of Representatives, winning with a substantial majority. While in the seat, she actively stood against former President Olusegun Obasanjo's third term bid.
From 2003 to 2007, Dabiri was Chairman, House Committee on Media in Federal House of Representative.
In 2015, she was appointed as the Senior Special Assistant of President Muhammadu Buhari where she served on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora based projects.

Abike Dabiri is married to Segun Erewa. They got married in 2007, two years after meeting in South Africa. The marriage is blessed with a child, Oladipupo Dabiri.
In 2017, Oladipupo Dabiri got married to Ayomide Amosun, the daughter of Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun. The wedding which took place in Ogun State was graced by many dignitaries including Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode (Lagos), Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Gov. Kashim Shettima (Borno), Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara), Alhaji Badaru Abubakar (Jigawa) amongst many others.
