The ban affected all all languages on the community-edited online encyclopedia. Wikipedia is a free online encyclopedia, created and edited by volunteers around the world and hosted by the Wikimedia Foundation.

Earlier, the enforced ban was seen barring Internet users from viewing the Chinese version, also it affected pages for sensitive search terms such as the Tiananmen massacre and Dalai Lama, the report stated.

The block has been in place since April 2019, Open Observatory of Network Interference (OONI), an internet censorship research group has revealed.
