He was accused of corruption, insubordination and abuse of office by the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.

• He was appointed as the FCT Commissioner of Police on July 19, 2018. He also served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (CIID) of the FCT Police Command.
• Ciroma has a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from the University of Maiduguri. He joined the Nigeria Police Force on March 3, 1990, with the rank of Superintendent of Police.
• On July 2020, he was appointed as the new Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He would be replacing Ibrahim Magu who until his suspension, served as the acting chairman of the commission.
