Boss Mustapha is a Nigerian lawyer, politician, management consultant, businessman and the current Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

Boss Mustapha Biography, Date Of Birth, Early Life, Family And Education

Boss Mustapha was born in Nassarawa but raised at Jimeta, Yola, Adamawa State, Nigeria into the family of Mr Wesley Mustapha and Benedicta Wesley. His father was a teacher and headmaster at Central Primary School, Yola who later became a commissioner in the ministry of education in the then Gongola state. Baba Wesley Mustapha died in 2013 but his wife is still alive.
Boss Mustapha started his early primary education at Hong, Adamawa. He further proceeded to North East College of Arts and Sciences in Maiduguri, Borno State for his high school education, graduating in 1976.
On completing high school education, Boss Mustapha gained admission to the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he received Bachelor of Law (LL.B). He was called to the Nigerian bar in 1980.

Career

In 1983, Boss Mustapha started his legal practice in Messrs Onagoruwa & Co in Lagos. Prior to that, he had a stint at Sotesa Nigeria Limited, an Italian consultancy firm located in Nigeria.
He established his his own law practice firm Messrs Mustapha & Associates in 1994, serving as its Principal Counsel until 2000. He later worked in another law firm Adriot Lex & Co. where he also served as Principal Consultant from 2000 to 2006.

Politics

Boss Mustapha ventured into politics in the 1980s after graduating from Law School. He served as a member of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Constituent Assembly between 1988 and 1989.
In 1989, he became the state chairman of the Peoples Solidarity Party (PSP) in defunct Gongola State but the party was among the several political parties disbanded by Babangida because they failed government's “litmus test”.

He served as the Adamawa state chairman of the Social Democratic Party between 1990 and 1991. In 1991, he ran unsuccessfully for Adamawa State governorship but lost to Abubakar Saleh Michika of National Republican Convention.

In 2007, he served as the deputy director-general of the campaign organisation of Atiku Abubakar's failed presidential bid in the 2007 general elections.

He also served as the deputy national chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), one of the 3 major parties that were merged to form the All Progressives Congress (APC) on February 2013 in anticipation of the Nigeria's 2015 general elections. The current serving President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari contested and won under the platform of the APC.

In 2014, Boss Mustapha once again unsuccessfully ran for Adamawa State governorship. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) is the current governor of the state.

He also served as the Managing Director/CEO of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).


Boss Mustapha was appointed Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) on the 30th of October, 2017 following the sack of Babachir David Lawal who has been on suspension six months earlier for misappropriating public funds.

Personal Life

Boss Mustapha is married to Mrs. Funmilayo Mustapha and the marriage is blessed with children. Amanda, one of their children got married to his husband, Otelemaba Westwood on April, 2018. The wedding, which was attended by many dignitaries, including Mr. President, Sen Bukola Saraki and Bola Tinubu took place in Abuja, Nigeria.
Boss Gida Mustapha is a devoted Christian and the National Vice President, Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International Nigeria.
