Easiest Guide On How To Block A Lost Or Stolen ATM Card
Losing your ATM card is an awful experience, and even worst when you have a huge sum of money in the account.
As the world is advancing in technology, many easy methods of shopping online are being developed and our ATM cards are becoming more useful. Many ATM scammers are now using the available credit and debit cards in duping innocent victims of their hard earned money. You can protect yourself from falling victim of these modernised ways of scamming by reading this post on tips for protecting yourself from ATM scams.
If your ATM card gets missing, the first step in securing your money is by acting fast. Personally, I have two bank accounts, one for storing my savings and the other for spending, the money in my spending account doesn't exceed the amount I would be needing in a given period of time and that's my only bank account that has an ATM card.
I use this method because I know the risk involved in losing your ATM card. I've heard the story of a guy that lost more than $700 in less than 24 hours after losing his ATM card. This is to show you how serious the matter is, the numbers written in your ATM cards are as important as your ATM pins and should be guided as such.
If you have ever shopped online, you'll know that most payment gateways don't require our ATM pins before billing us. This is because they believe that for you to have access to the ATM numbers, you must have been permitted by the account owners or even be the owner. This is not always true as scammers are now making use of these numbers and duping people.
So the easiest way of protecting your money is by keeping your ATM in safe hands, only give them to people you trust and avoid inputting the digits in suspicious websites.
What if the card gets into wrong hands? Then you'll have to act fast by blocking it.
