Yemi Alade was born on the 13th of March, 1989 to James Alade (a police commissioner) and Helen Uzoma in Abia State. Her father, James is originally from Ondo State, while her mother is of Igbo descent, hence Yemi Alade is referred to as the Yoruba-Igbo girl.
Yemi Alade's is the fifth born of seven children in her family, and she had her early education at St. Savior British Primary School before proceeding to Victory Grammar School in Lagos for her secondary school education. Alade also studied at the University of Lagos where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in Geography.

Music Career

Yemi Alade's first rise to stardom was in 2009 when she emerged winner in the popular Peak Talent Show. She combined her education at the University of Lagos with her musical ambition and following her victory at the Peak competition, she proceeded into releasing her first single, 'Fimisile'.
In 2013, after signing a deal with Effyzzie Music Group, she released her first hit song, 'Johnny' which has already garnered more than 100 million views on YouTube.
'Johnny' was also included in her debut album, 'King of Queens' which was released 2014 under the Effyzzie Music Group. 'King of Queens' featured a number of collaborations between notable producers like Shady Bizniz, GospelOnDeBeatz, Selebobo, Fliptyce, Young D, Beat Nation, Mr Chidoo, DIL, Sizzle Pro, EL Mcee, Philkeyz, Jezreel and OJB.
The album, which was preceded by three singles: 'Johnny', 'Tangerine' and 'Kissing' featured guest appearances and skits from Bovi, Chidinma, Diamond Platnumz, Phyno, Selebobo, R2Bees and DIL.

In 2016, Yemi Alade released 'Mama Africa', a follow up album to her debut studio album King of Queens. 'Mama Africa' featured guest appearances P-Square, Sauti Sol, Sarkodie, Rotimi Keys, Selebobo, Flavour N'abania and DJ Arafat.
The album was produced by DJ Coublon, BeatsByEmzo, GospelOnDeBeatz, Masterkraft, Mr. Chidoo, Rotimi Keys, Philkeyz and Selebobo. It was supported by six singles; 'Do As I Do', 'Na Gode', 'Ferrari', 'Africa', 'Tumbum', and 'Kom Kom'.

In 2017, Yemi Alade released her third studion album, 'Black Magic'. The album featured collaboration with artists such as Falz and Olamide. The album was produced by DJ Coublon, Young D, V-Tek, Fliptyce, Philkeyz, Echoand, Sess, Krizbeatz, 2Kriss, I Am Beatz and Sarz.

In 2019, she released her fourth studio album, 'Woman of Steel'. The album featured guest appearances from Angélique Kidjo, Rick Ross, Duncan Mighty and Funke Akindele.
