Everyone can sing, but not everyone can produce a good music. After writing your that you very interesting song, you'd need the services of a producer to turn it into a marketable beat.
Music is more like a business, with a chain of people earning from it aside the singer himself. Your producer, promoter, video director, and a number of people make money from artists.
Among all the people listed, the first in the line should be the producer, he or she carries out the task of turning your imaginations into something danceable.

How much does a studio session cost in Nigeria?

Many factors affect how much you'd be paying for a studio session. Things like the capacity of the artist (or label), producer and location.
I'd be explaining some of the factors below:

• Capacity of artist:

The richer the artist, the more money he or she will be able to release for a studio session. This will also affect the choice of producer the artist will approach for music production.

• Location:

Most big artists move to Lagos after becoming recognized in the industry. I had a chat with one of my friends some days before I started working on this article and he told me that he too had plans of moving to Lagos.
The guy ventured into music production immediately after living school, and became affiliated with one of the biggest producers in Imo State. I played some of his songs and to be honest, he's really doing a great job in the industry.
This will  explain better to you the reason why you will see 80% of the best producers in Lagos. Many of them start locally and eventually move when they've mastered the craft, hence they also charge higher than the smaller producers.

• Producer:

You can't compare a producer like Don Jazzy, who is floating one of the biggest record labels in Africa and has worked with many big artists to an upcoming producer still trying to gain relevance in the industry.
While Don Jazzy might not charge anything less than a million Naira, you can see small producers around your locality charging as low as ₦15,000 to produce your music.

• Self-production:

If you have the necessary equipment, you can still produce your own songs yourself. This is economical, and can still give you the best. But one reason many artists prefer working with already established producers is that they can help you in the production aspect.
A single shout-out from a big producer will go a long way towards giving you exposure, especially when he has garnered millions of followers across his social media accounts.
In addition to this, an already established producer may also have some necessary contacts of music promoters around.
